Morrisons Supermarket in Edinburgh: A Comprehensive Overview

Morrisons is a well-known supermarket chain, and its Edinburgh location offers a variety of amenities that cater to the local community. Here’s a detailed look at what you can expect when you visit this supermarket.

Inclusivity and Safety

Morrisons strives to be an LGBTQ+ friendly environment, promoting a transgender safe space for all customers. However, some visitors have reported negative experiences, emphasizing the need for better staff training on inclusivity and customer service. It's essential for everyone to feel welcomed while shopping.

Amenities and Accessibility

The supermarket features several amenities for its patrons. These include a wheelchair-accessible entrance, a wheelchair-accessible toilet, and ample parking, including a free parking lot that's convenient for quick visits. Accessibility is prioritized, ensuring that all customers can shop comfortably.

Shopping Experience

Morrisons offers a wide range of food products, from fresh produce to household essentials. The store is known for its great produce, making it a reliable choice for weekly shopping. Many customers appreciate the in-store pick-up options and NFC mobile payments, which make transactions more straightforward and faster. Despite some complaints about stock shortages and cleanliness, many find that the crowd size is manageable, and the layout allows for an efficient shopping experience. The ability to use debit cards and credit cards at checkouts also adds to the convenience.

Clothing Section

While Morrisons does carry a small clothing section, reviews indicate that the selection is primarily targeted towards women and small boys, with limited options available for men'swear. Customers seeking more extensive clothing choices may need to consider other retailers nearby.

Café and Dining Options

The in-store café has received mixed feedback. While some enjoy the offerings, others have voiced concerns about service quality and food standards. Reports of unappetizing meals and poor hygiene have raised eyebrows among customers looking for a quick meal during their shopping trip.

Customer Service Feedback

Customer experiences at Morrisons can vary significantly. While some staff members are praised for their helpfulness, others have been described as rude or inattentive. This inconsistency highlights the need for improved training and management to enhance the overall shopping experience.

Recycling and Environmental Awareness

Morrisons has taken steps towards environmental responsibility with their recycling initiatives. However, the usage of plastic bags still raises concerns among environmentally conscious shoppers. Encouraging the use of reusable bags can contribute to reducing waste.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, Morrisons in Edinburgh provides a solid shopping option for locals with its diverse product offerings and accessibility features. Though there are areas needing improvement—particularly regarding customer service and café quality—the supermarket remains a reliable choice for many. Regular shoppers are advised to keep an open mind and share their feedback to foster positive changes within the store.

The store is decent, with most of the staff being friendly. However, there is a small lady with glasses who supervises the self-checkouts and she comes across as rude, unpleasant, and lacking in customer service skills. She isn't even polite to any customers, just walks around with a face like she's swallowed a wasp!

Just popped into Morrisons for a spot of brekkie at the cafe, and oh my, it was the worst breakfast I've ever had! £17.00 down the drain, avoid at all costs!
Patrick Foster (31/08/2025, 03:37):
The prices are getting a bit high and I really aim for top-notch quality when it comes to certain groceries, so I only rely on the supermarket for specific items. Also, I had a bit of a mishap where I believe I was shortchanged by ten pounds. I handed over a twenty-pound note, but the cashier insisted it was only a twenty in the till. They had another staff member double-check, but the whole process seemed a bit sketchy to me. No manager was called, and I left feeling a bit uneasy about the situation.

This supermarket is a fantastic spot for your shopping needs! They offer a wide variety of food, drinks, and flowers at very competitive prices. Check them out for a top-notch shopping experience!
Judy Williams (29/08/2025, 01:28):
There are far too many shortages of products. Stock should be restocked on the shelves overnight rather than during the day when shoppers are in the store.
Dennis Gonzales (26/08/2025, 07:08):
Plenty of parking available, although it seems like the average driver here is a bit careless about where and how they park. The selection of food items is top-notch, with a great hot food area. While the staff may not be very interactive, they are helpful when approached. Personally, I prefer not to be overwhelmed with forced interactions from staff.

I deducted a star due to the lacking cafe experience.

There's a ton of parking at this supermarket, mate. It can get pretty busy in there, but the staff are proper down to earth and friendly, always keen to lend a hand. Cheers!
Sara Torres (25/08/2025, 01:58):
Dear managers, it's the fifth time I've had issues with the medium salad meal deal. The staff never seem to know how to ring it up, and it always takes ages to sort out, only getting resolved when another employee steps in. Please consider making a change.

Earlier this arvo, I had a chinwag with a lovely manager at your shop, kindly asking if you could hook us up (Newbattle Beekeepers) with a discount on sugar. We need it to feed our bees at this time of year to see them through to spring.
The chap trotted off to see if it could be done, and a few minutes later he was back with the good news.

Cheers to Chris and a massive thanks to Morrisons!

You've come through once more for the local community.
Charlotte Ford (20/08/2025, 02:14):
Aye, we've got yersel' a standard large Morrisons supermarket doon on Gilmerton Road. It's got a braw big car park and a petrol station tae boot.
Mark Gutierrez (18/08/2025, 11:12):
This place was an absolute joke, there was zero social distancing, people were just wandering around everywhere. I felt really unsafe and had to leave, especially since I work in healthcare and didn't want to risk my health. I mentioned to a staff member on my way out how unsafe I felt, but he said it's always been like that with no designated pathways or anything. They should be ashamed of themselves. I'll be sticking to Asda from now on, much safer there.
Jonathan Sanders (14/08/2025, 19:48):
My lad does the shopping for me, as he's been looking after me for the past 4 years. He's really good at it. He helps me out as much as he can, he's a very kind and caring soul. The only issue is that the prices at Morrisons have skyrocketed, and we're all feeling the pinch of the cost of living crisis. We just have to adjust our spending when it comes to our shopping. It's the way it is, we just keep on going until things settle down. I do hope it happens soon.
Sharon Reynolds (14/08/2025, 07:56):
The assortment is top-notch, prices have seen an increase but that seems to be the case everywhere. The team is consistently courteous and accommodating. I'd suggest it for your regular grocery run.
James Gomez (12/08/2025, 10:20):
The staff at the supermarket have truly been exceptional during this challenging time. Their cheerful and compassionate attitude towards customers has not gone unnoticed. Keep up the excellent work!
Cheryl Price (10/08/2025, 20:22):
The pricing seems to be a bit outdated and not up to par. The selection of meats at the Delhi counter was rather disappointing, not meeting the standards I would anticipate from a leading supermarket.
Kathryn Edwards (06/08/2025, 14:00):
Charming little store, spotless and well-organized. Absolutely adore the offerings at the counters, they're a tad bit unique compared to other places.
Chloe Sanchez (05/08/2025, 19:53):
A vast selection of products with prices ranging from budget-friendly items to premium quality foods at higher prices. Offering a diverse range of fresh fruits and vegetables, along with daily selections of freshly baked breads, pastries, and French baguettes.

Additionally, there is a decently sized cafeteria with friendly service. Regular price reductions on a wide variety of products are always available. Would highly recommend for those looking to avoid constant trips to Lidl or Iceland.
David Wright (05/08/2025, 09:46):
Just popped into the store and noticed they've revamped the layout, making the aisles a bit more snug. The staff are as friendly and accommodating as ever. Spotted some intriguing new ready-to-eat options on offer. And don't forget, the café is now up and running!
Evelyn Diaz (04/08/2025, 14:15):
Prices have increased and the variety of products seems to have decreased. The discounts on final clearance items are rare and usually no more than a third off, and the milk has started to spoil quickly, not lasting a week before curdling. The supermarket is starting to resemble the Co-Op in terms of it not being a convenient stop even if I happen to be passing by, and it's becoming difficult to find a compelling reason to visit. Additionally, their gift cards expire more quickly than those of other stores, lasting only a year if you happen to misplace them.
Evelyn Young (04/08/2025, 08:50):
I recently noticed a change in the deli counter at my local supermarket. It seems to be self-service now, and all the items are pre-packaged in boxes, making it impossible to see what you're getting. I just picked up 5 chipotle wings for £3.25, which seemed a bit pricey considering their small size and lack of flavor - they seemed either stale or overcooked. I prefer the old days when there was a human at the counter who could help you choose and see the quality of the products before purchasing.
