ASDA Pharmacy in Perth: An In-Depth Review

If you find yourself needing a pharmacy in Perth, the ASDA Pharmacy may cross your mind. While it might offer convenience during a quick visit for groceries, there are various factors to consider based on customer feedback.

Service Options and On-Site Services

ASDA Pharmacy has a variety of services available, including prescription dispensing, flu jabs, and over-the-counter medication sales. However, numerous customers have reported long wait times—often exceeding 30 minutes just to hand in a prescription. In fact, some individuals experienced waits of over an hour for their medication after submitting prescriptions. Such delays can be frustrating, especially when you're trying to make timely payments or simply pick up essentials.

Accessibility Features

For those who require special accommodations, ASDA Pharmacy does provide accessibility features. The pharmacy boasts a wheelchair-accessible entrance and car park. However, these advantages can be overshadowed by customer service experiences that leave much to be desired.

Customer Experience: A Mixed Bag

While some customers praised the polite nature of certain staff members, others expressed dissatisfaction with the pharmacist's attitude. Reports of rude interactions were common, with some individuals feeling dismissed or belittled during their visits. A notable complaint involved a pharmacist questioning a patient's prescription content post-hospital discharge, which left many feeling unsupported during vulnerable moments. It’s important to note that while some patrons received excellent service, like finding alternative medications for urgent cases, this was not the universal experience. Many highlighted a concerning trend of dismissive behavior from staff, especially the pharmacists.

Payments and Procedures

When it comes to payments, ASDA Pharmacy accepts credit cards, making transactions straightforward. However, if you encounter issues with your prescription, the initial interactions can make for a stressful experience. Feedback suggested that staff sometimes react poorly to inquiries, leading to confrontational situations rather than helpful resolutions.

Recycling and Environmental Initiatives

In addition to health services, ASDA Pharmacy also participates in recycling initiatives, encouraging customers to dispose of medications properly. This adds an environmentally friendly aspect to your pharmacy visit, should you need to recycle expired or unused medications.

Conclusion: Is ASDA Pharmacy Worth It?

In summary, ASDA Pharmacy in Perth offers convenience with its wheelchair-accessible features and wide range of services, but its customer service track record needs improvement. Quick visits may turn into lengthy waits, and the quality of interaction with staff can vary significantly. Shoppers are advised to consider these factors when planning a trip to the pharmacy, as the experience could impact their overall health shopping journey. If you value excellent service and a respectful atmosphere, you might want to explore other pharmacy options nearby.

After hastening straight to ASDA in Perth from the hospital, I was informed that they couldn't fulfill the prescription for another hour until a second staff member arrived. While I understand the necessity for a double-check, ASDA is promoting this service and should adequately staff it.

I wasn't prepared for my partner to wait in the car while we waited for the second staff member to show up, so I had to make an additional 14-mile round trip to take her home. I came back after the hour, and the prescription was swiftly dispensed. Nonetheless, that doesn't make up for the inadequate service at the beginning. After struggling with 111 for most of the day, it was the cherry on top of the lackluster NHS service available these days.

One would assume that having a pharmacy within a supermarket would be a convenient solution, hitting two birds with one stone. Alas, in practice, the lengthy wait times for service and prescription preparation render this concept impractical. The staff could greatly benefit from additional customer service training as interactions often feel burdensome, with patients made to feel like a nuisance for requesting their medications. The frequent inquiries about the urgency of one's prescription and noticeable displays of exasperation only add to the dissatisfaction. Time for Asda to address these issues!
John James (02/06/2025, 23:09):
The service is dreadfully slow. Some of the staff members definitely lack any customer service skills at all!
Terry Sanchez (31/05/2025, 22:59):
Oh, incredibly helpful indeed.
Kathryn Wilson (29/05/2025, 01:15):
I must say, my experience at this pharmacy was absolutely dreadful. Not only did I have to wait an excruciating 30 minutes just to drop off my prescription, but I then had to wait a whole additional hour before it was ready. Simply terrible service.
Kathryn Peterson (27/05/2025, 07:14):
I must say, I typically refrain from sharing my thoughts online, but let me tell you about this particular establishment... Every time I venture there, it's a never-ending waiting game! I mean, what's the deal over there? It's hands down the worst pharmacy I've ever experienced! The employees act as if they don't even see you as they casually stroll by behind the counter. Always with their heads buried in the tills. Why isn't there a couple of individuals manning the tills and a few competent pharmacists on deck? In a bustling supermarket like Asda, one would anticipate a more meticulous approach to service and customer care. You end up feeling like a burden when you step foot inside. I dread having to go there for any necessity; it just puts me off completely. You either get ignored or made to feel unwelcome. It's as if they're hatching a scheme to irk their customers! It's like they've formed their own little exclusive club! Ha! They should really recruit fully trained personnel or provide them with some customer service instruction. It feels like they're all in a perpetual bad mood! Last week, I decided to drop off a prescription there for the first time. A young man came up to me, barely said a word, took my prescription, and mentioned it wouldn't be ready for an hour and a half. I promptly retrieved my prescription, headed straight to another pharmacy, and within 10 minutes, it was good to go! The pharmacy I visited in Letham is also quite busy. Management, please consider swapping out these staffers for qualified professionals, because this current situation is simply unacceptable.
Mia Young (26/05/2025, 03:57):
Disgusting customer service and downright rude staff, never setting foot in there again.
Keith Diaz (25/05/2025, 18:10):
I was on holiday and encountered an issue with the prescription meds I brought along. Popped into the Asda pharmacy on Monday 27th Feb and they swiftly and effectively resolved the problem. I'm truly pleased with the help I got. Thanks to all working at that time 😊 ...
Beverly Ramos (24/05/2025, 18:17):
Frequently facing lackluster and sluggish service with interminable queues
Harold Moore (22/05/2025, 11:41):
Amongst all my reviews, I've never given a single star until now.

I stood in line for 20 minutes only to be informed that they couldn't process my prescription due to an error made by the doctor. The reason for my one-star rating is due to one staff member who had an extremely poor attitude. She acted as if it were my fault, even though I asked her what was wrong with the prescription and she couldn't provide an answer. She was flustered, gesturing wildly, and speaking in an angry tone.

I understand that people can have bad days, but I don't expect to be treated that way when receiving service from someone who interacts with the public.

There were also two other customers in front of me who experienced issues with the service today (which explains the 20-minute wait).

I have reported this incident to the GP I saw, and three NHS staff members overheard me and approached me, mentioning that they've been hearing numerous complaints about Asda Pharmacy.
Nancy Cruz (21/05/2025, 14:25):
ASDA dedicates a considerable amount of time to providing methadone to its daily recipients. While their commitment to this service is commendable, the cramped environment of the supermarket pharmacy may not be the most suitable setting for it.

The staff's terse demeanor can be off-putting as they appear to have become hardened, approaching everyone as a potential addict.

It is suggested that the Methadone area be relocated from the general public in the small area for a more optimal arrangement.
Sophia Stewart (21/05/2025, 01:58):
Service is dreadfully slow at this establishment, and the staff exhibit a remarkable lack of friendliness, not to mention an air of condescension. The level of professionalism leaves much to be desired.
Joe Reyes (18/05/2025, 23:19):
I had a dreadful experience with this pharmacy, mate. Waited for over a week for me prescription only to be told they couldn't sort it out, and they handed it back to me. Went over to Loydes Pharmacy, and they had it ready in just half an hour! Saw three folks storm out in frustration, and a lady was proper upset as her personal info was left out in the open for everyone. Definitely won't be going back there, that's for sure.
Charles Brooks (18/05/2025, 05:12):
I must say, once again my GP practice has failed me with an incorrect prescription for my birth control pills. Even though it was a bit tardy, they did assist me in resolving the issue. Huge thanks to Pam, you're an absolute superstar!
Rachel Richardson (15/05/2025, 14:42):
This is a complete joke... They hired 4 employees and not a single customer is being serviced. The line is 300 feet long. I strongly advise against using this pharmacy... Boots is much better in terms of customer service standards...
Raymond Davis (14/05/2025, 22:43):
I've been using this Pharmacy for about 2 years now, and after finally taking the time to request my prescriptions to be sent elsewhere from my doctor's office, I felt compelled to share my experience with you. Let me tell you, you might want to steer clear of this pharmacy.

The lack of courtesy and incompetence displayed by the staff behind the counter is simply beyond words. The other reviews are spot on when they mention how the staff here greet you as if you've just unloaded a bag of rubbish in front of them.

Save yourself the trouble of dealing with this Pharmacy. I understand that it opens a bit later than others in town and it's convenient having it inside ASDA for your grocery shopping needs, but trust me, spending an extra 20-40 minutes in their line of frustrated customers, only to be let down by individuals who couldn't care less about your well-being – which could be vital for your health or that of your loved ones – is not worth it.
Ethan Hernandez (12/05/2025, 17:23):
I must say, the customer service at this establishment leaves much to be desired. It appears that some additional training is sorely needed, especially for the staff at the front counter!
Elizabeth Graham (11/05/2025, 21:31):
The pharmacy located inside the Asda store can be quite crowded and you may experience longer waiting times.
Laura Taylor (11/05/2025, 11:15):
Friendly and helpful. I had a negative experience at a different ASDA pharmacy yesterday with terrible service and rudeness. Today was a completely different story. When I inquired about the time needed for my prescription, I was informed it would take 30 minutes, which was surprising but appreciated as it allowed me to decide whether to wait or explore other options. I mentioned my concern about time constraints, and the staff kindly elaborated on the process duration without me prompting. To my delight, the prescription was ready in just 10 minutes! It's always better to under-promise and over-deliver. Thank you for your assistance this morning, you've helped start my day on a positive note.
Raymond Hamilton (09/05/2025, 14:35):
The only place in Perth that still provides flu shots for non-eligible individuals. Exceptional service from all the staff members.
