Furthermore, the concept of a quick visit is promoted at Goldenacre. The pharmacy strives to minimize waiting times while ensuring that each customer receives personalized attention, although experiences can vary significantly.
Customer Feedback: A Mixed Bag
While many customers appreciate the helpful staff and on-site services, some reviews indicate a disparity in service quality. Commendations often highlight friendly interactions and efficient handling of prescriptions, especially during busy seasons such as winter when flu vaccinations are in high demand.
Conversely, negative feedback often points to instances of rude and unprofessional staff interactions. Multiple reviews express dissatisfaction with how complaints are handled, leaving several customers feeling judged or dismissed, particularly regarding sensitive health issues.
Conclusion: A Local Pharmacy with Room for Improvement
Goldenacre Pharmacy & Travel Clinic embodies the dual nature of local healthcare services: while it offers vital on-site services and payment flexibility, the inconsistency in staff professionalism can detract from the overall customer experience. As the pharmacy continues to serve the Edinburgh community, addressing these concerns may help enhance its reputation and better meet the needs of its clientele.

I am currently dealing with Cauda Equina Syndrome, a spinal cord injury that has caused nerve damage affecting my ability to urinate. As a result, I need to self-catheterize periodically, which can sometimes lead to Urinary Tract Infections. Recently, I developed a UTI and went to the pharmacy to pick up my prescribed antibiotics. However, the pharmacist who assisted me displayed a judgmental attitude and gave me a look of disgust. It seemed like she assumed the UTI was sexually transmitted, which was not the case. Regardless, it is not her place to make moral judgments. Despite being an older and presumably experienced pharmacist, her unprofessional behavior was disappointing.

Our neighborhood pharmacy - always incredibly friendly and helpful (and we've visited quite a bit with winter bugs and the little ones!). My partner and I also received our booster shots here before Christmas, when we had assumed we'd have to wait until the new year for our scheduled appointments. A fantastic local service - big thanks to Gordon and the entire team!

Carolyn Alexander (16/06/2025, 19:57):
I've 'ad a rather unpleasant experience with this pharmacy, I must say. One of their staff members 'as been right rude to me, making me feel quite uncomfortable on each visit. Despite bein' the nearest pharmacy to my 'ouse, I reckon I'd rather take a longer walk to feel more at ease when collectin' me medicine or prescriptions. Cheers.
Rose Thompson (15/06/2025, 08:47):
After my father's passing in December, I was requested by the kind nurses who had attended to him to bring back some medication. I complied with their request, only to be met with utter embarrassment by a staff member who seemed quite annoyed at my return of the medication. Their attitude was unprofessional and lacked empathy. As a result of this experience, I have decided that I will not be utilizing this pharmacy again.
Jennifer Jenkins (11/06/2025, 15:55):
The ambiance in this place is quite inhospitable, if you ask me. I inquired about a prescription and they rather brusquely dismissed my query. Furthermore, there's a sense of judgment in the air, coupled with audible whispers while they're dispensing medication.
Karen Ramos (10/06/2025, 20:15):
Almost every time I pick up my medications here, there seems to be an issue of some sort. Although it's often blamed on the doctors, I'm not entirely convinced. The majority of the staff are quite helpful, but there are a few, including one older lady who I suspect is a manager, that come across as unprofessional, incredibly rude, and arrogant. If these issues continue, I may opt to seek out another pharmacy.
Julie Harris (09/06/2025, 19:02):
My spouse and I have come across quite a few unpleasant and at times downright rude staff members at this pharmacy (mostly the senior ones). They seem unhelpful and arrogant for no apparent reason, and there's almost always a problem with prescriptions. It's definitely pushing us to find a new pharmacy.
Kathryn Richardson (03/06/2025, 18:55):
I must say, this statement is terribly misguided.
Amelia Gonzalez (28/05/2025, 06:55):
I often drop by this establishment and the staff are always so accommodating and amiable. ❤
Virginia Lewis (26/05/2025, 19:43):
Lovely pharmacy, the staff is very friendly!
Carolyn Flores (26/05/2025, 16:01):
What a fabulous spot! I reckon it's crucial to back up local businesses, and I've been getting my regular meds on repeat prescription from this pharmacy for 2 years now. I wouldn't think twice about suggesting it to anyone, as I'm always given top-notch treatment. Every staff member I've crossed paths with exemplifies the utmost professionalism.
Ashley Hayes (19/05/2025, 07:05):
AVOID THIS PHARMACY. UNPLEASANT AND UNHELPFUL STAFF!
The more experienced members of staff are extremely impolite and have no qualms about lying directly to customers. Upon contacting them after consulting my GP to send my prescription, a young-sounding lady assured me that she would make a note to call me once my medication arrived. She also mentioned that unlike other pharmacies, they do not send text messages as they are a family-run establishment that values its customers. I was reassured by this.
However, I never received a call for over a month. When I confronted them in person, the older staff member with silver, short hair who served me flat out denied ever promising a callback, dismissing it as misinformation from whoever I had spoken to before. She then claimed they couldn't have called me as they did not have my contact details, despite prescriptions clearly displaying this information. I had also provided my number to the lady on the phone. To make matters worse, she refused to provide me with part of my main medication, citing that it was over 20 days old. No alternative was suggested, and she continued to justify their policy of not calling customers.
One absurd excuse given for not contacting customers was the supposed additional cost to both the pharmacy and the NHS, which seemed illogical as having medication returned would incur higher costs for the NHS. It appears the pharmacy is benefiting from this situation, hence their lackadaisical approach.
