Exploring the Boots Beauty Supply Store in Edinburgh: A Comprehensive Review

Boots, located in the heart of Edinburgh, is more than just a beauty supply store; it's a one-stop destination for all your beauty and health needs. With various service options, including in-store pick-up, delivery, and a wheelchair-accessible entrance, this store aims to provide an inclusive shopping experience.

Accessibility and Parking

For those visiting by car, Boots offers a wheelchair-accessible car park, making it easier for everyone to access its wide range of products. The store is designed with accessibility in mind, showcasing a wheelchair-accessible entrance that ensures all customers can navigate the store with ease.

Shopping Experience

Customers often highlight their experiences at Boots, ranging from excellent customer service to frustrations with the click-and-collect service. While many praise the helpful staff members, some have noted long wait times and challenges with product availability.

One frequent visitor remarked on the large selection, stating the store is "clean and tidy" with a variety of products for men and women, including "a huge perfumes section" and great deals. However, others have expressed disappointment over the efficiency of the in-store shopping experience, especially regarding prescription services, indicating occasional long queues.

Payment Options

Boots accommodates various payment methods, making it convenient for all customers. They accept credit cards, debit cards, and even NFC mobile payments, ensuring a smooth transaction process. Nonetheless, some patrons have voiced concerns about the over-reliance on self-service tills, which can lead to delays if issues arise, such as needing assistance with a security tag.

Customer Service Insights

While customer service experiences vary, many shoppers appreciate the personalized help they receive. For example, one customer praised a staff member at the makeup counter for going above and beyond to offer advice. In contrast, others reported feeling ignored or underappreciated, particularly at busy times. A common theme in the reviews suggests that customer service could enhance their overall shopping experience significantly.

Final Thoughts

In summary, while Boots in Edinburgh is a robust option for beauty and healthcare needs, the store has room for improvement in customer service consistency and handling high traffic during busy hours. For those looking for a quick visit, the store's accessibility and comprehensive product range make it a worthwhile stop, but managing expectations regarding service efficiency is advisable. Whether you’re picking up a prescription or exploring the latest beauty trends, Boots remains a pillar of the Edinburgh shopping scene.

Boots really caters for all budgets, whether you're working with a tight purse or have some cash to splash. The staff are super friendly and really know their stuff.

Plenty of choices when it comes to stock. Recently popped into the store to see the opticians, who I must say were quite professional, thorough, and helpful.

Boots is not just any old drugstore, it's a proper institution, I tell you! From cosmetics to toiletries to gifts, you can find everything there. It's quite handy to have a boots card because they frequently run promotions where they give you points for your purchases, and then you can swap those points for items on your wishlist! The staff is typically friendly, although at times it can be a bit tricky to locate someone available to help.

This Boots store is absolutely massive, offering a wide range of products and services including photos, pharmacy, and opticians. It's definitely worth a visit for all your Boots necessities.

Although, I must say it's so large that I had to track down a staff member to assist me in finding a specific item. Once I found someone, they were very helpful and quickly guided me to what I was looking for. However, it did take me a bit of wandering around aimlessly before I could find someone to help me out.

I placed an order on the 12th of November to pick up at my local Boots on the 16th of November. Didn't receive any text notification about its arrival. When I called today (18th November), they said I had to wait 72 hours before asking. I even sent an email to customer services before going to the store, but no response. Looks like I'll have to go all the way back to the Gyle this Saturday! Seriously disappointing service, Boots.

I recently snagged a half-priced Philips toothbrush for £90, which was absolutely fantastic! 👏 The line at the checkout wasn't the greatest, but it's no surprise when there are only 2 tills open.
Justin Graham (28/06/2025, 06:02):
I must say, it's quite peculiar to see two employees simply pointing customers towards the self-service area while there's a massive line forming. It almost feels passive-aggressive, doesn't it? Why not hop on a register and assist in reducing the queues, all the while ensuring job security?
Beverly Ward (27/06/2025, 20:07):
I recently stopped by the No.7 makeup counter at Boots Craigleith to get matched with a foundation for my skin. Everything seemed fine during the visit, but when I got home, my face started itching quite a bit. I decided to return the unopened foundation a couple of days later at Boots at The Gyle, and that's where my experience took a disappointing turn, hence the 2-star rating.

Upon arriving at the main checkout, I was promptly directed to the No.7 counter because, apparently, makeup returns were not allowed as indicated on my receipt. Who actually reads the back of a receipt, right? Nevertheless, I explained that I had a reaction and was eventually told that a refund was possible. However, when the staff member tried to open the unopened foundation, I had to reiterate that it was, indeed, unopened.

After some back and forth, I was informed that since the product was part of a 3 for 2 deal, I would only be refunded £1. I opted to choose other items like shower gels that I knew wouldn't cause any allergic reactions. When I returned to the staff member, she seemed surprised that I hadn't picked another No.7 item. I had to clarify that I wasn't confident in wearing No.7 foundation but was comfortable with other products from the brand.

The overall customer service experience was lacking, with the staff coming across as a bit snippy. I didn't appreciate being questioned about my choices, especially on my day off. It's essential to maintain a friendly and understanding approach, especially when dealing with customers who may have had an unpleasant experience.
Tyler Wright (24/06/2025, 20:32):
The staff at this beauty store are absolutely dreadful. I was in need of some assistance at the NYX counter and approached a member of staff, who seemed completely uninterested as she was busy in the perfumery section. When I asked her for help, her response was extremely dismissive, saying "what is it?". It's important to treat customers with respect and kindness, so I decided to take my business elsewhere and went to Superdrug instead.
Cynthia Fisher (20/06/2025, 04:21):
I had a bit of a stressful experience at Boots at the Gyle last week. I was able to find what I needed, but when I went to the checkouts, there was no one there to help. The lady cleaning the self-serve checkout seemed quite annoyed when I waited there and told me she couldn't assist me. It was different from my previous experience there, which was frustrating. I really don't like using self-serve checkouts as they never seem to work properly. And, surprise, surprise, this time was no different. I had to ask for help as usual, and the same lady wasn't very helpful. To top it off, my debit card wouldn't work, so it took forever to complete my purchase. A line started forming behind me, adding to my stress. By the time I finally left, I was feeling very frazzled.
Helen Bennett (18/06/2025, 11:03):
I dread having to visit the pharmacy at Boots, as the staff there always seem unhelpful and clueless. Once, a situation arose where a doctor needed to speak with a pharmacist to help me get my medication, but the pharmacist refused to take the call. It's frustrating that most of the time there are no staff around, and those who are there seem to be only interested in collecting their paycheck rather than assisting customers. Trying to get medicine during a lunch break is nearly impossible as they are always swamped. I wish there was another pharmacy I could go to in order to avoid Boots altogether. Absolutely dreadful.
Joyce Howard (16/06/2025, 08:50):
Typically quite bustling, yet they boast an extensive array of skincare, haircare, and makeup labels. I always manage to discover just what I seek. The staff consistently exude warmth and approachability.
Lisa Gomez (16/06/2025, 07:21):
I'm about ready to give up on life waiting to be tended to at the prescription counter. Some seating in the waiting area for dropping off and picking up prescriptions is desperately needed.
Raymond Edwards (15/06/2025, 13:33):
As a person of a certain age, I require glasses and I must say that Boots has been my go-to for all my eyewear needs. Their 3D scan technology for measuring eyeball pressure and depth perception is top-notch. Not to mention, their selection of frames is simply fantastic! The staff at Boots are always so helpful and knowledgeable. I highly recommend them for all your eyewear needs!
Nicole Sanchez (14/06/2025, 21:02):
The customer service was absolutely dreadful. I visited the beauty supply store today on the 24th of December, around 9:45am, looking for a perfume for my husband. I was the only customer in the perfume department, where three women were standing and chatting amongst themselves instead of helping me. I tried to get the attention of one of the ladies to ask a question, but she gave me a cold stare and didn't respond. After asking again, another lady reluctantly acknowledged me, but her attitude was just as dismissive. She pointed me towards the men's perfumes with no enthusiasm.

Due to this poor treatment, I decided not to make a purchase and instead went to Superdrug, where I received excellent customer service. The management team at the beauty supply store should take note of this behavior and take action. It's truly disappointing. If these ladies don't enjoy their jobs, they should consider finding employment that brings them happiness and allows them to be polite, especially to customers. Thank you for your attention.
Lawrence Myers (14/06/2025, 06:55):
Visited the beauty supply store! It's always bustling with customers, but the staff is consistently polite and accommodating.
Daniel Garcia (13/06/2025, 06:33):
Terrible customer service. I've called the store multiple times with questions about a product, but I've never been able to speak to anyone. I'm kept on hold for over half an hour each time. It's incredibly frustrating. The live chat is no better as they just direct you to call the store. When I did call, I was once again left on hold for over half an hour. I still haven't had my question answered. The same thing happened when I called the St James store – no answer and endless hold times. Truly disappointing.
Rose Sanchez (09/06/2025, 01:45):
I recently bought a pair of boots for my wife at this beauty supply store, and let me tell you, they are top-notch quality! Much better than what you can find at Claire's Accessories in the same shopping center. I love the old-school vibe of this store, it adds to the charm. Highly recommend checking it out for all your beauty needs!
Carl Morales (07/06/2025, 18:58):
The staff here are just wonderful, they really know their stuff when it comes to Covid testing. They handle nervous customers like a pro, especially those older folks who are fretting about missing out on their holiday. Big shoutout to Abbie for her fantastic work!
Debra Morales (07/06/2025, 18:52):
Well, I must say, I felt a tad overwhelmed by the vast selection at this beauty supply store! Coming from a smaller shop, it was quite the change. The staff, while not exactly the friendliest bunch, were decent enough. I attempted to use the self-checkout option, but alas, it wasn't functioning properly, so I resorted to the traditional checkout instead. All in all, an interesting experience, to say the least!
