ASDA Opticians in Livingston: A Mixed Bag of Experiences

When it comes to eye care, ASDA Opticians in Livingston has gathered a variety of reviews that highlight both the positive and negative aspects of their service. While some customers have praised the opticians for their thoroughness and friendly staff, others have expressed disappointment with the reliability and professionalism of the service.

Accessibility Options

ASDA Opticians is committed to accessibility. The location features a wheelchair-accessible entrance and a wheelchair-accessible car park, ensuring that all customers can access their services comfortably. Additionally, a wheelchair-accessible toilet is available on-site for added convenience.

Service Options and Appointments

While many customers recommend making appointments due to high demand, this has not always translated into a seamless experience. One customer shared their frustration after waiting four weeks for an appointment that was cancelled last minute, emphasizing the importance of respecting clients' time. On the flip side, some visitors appreciate the attentive service provided during their appointments, particularly for families with children.

Customer Service Experiences

The customer service at ASDA Opticians has been a subject of contention. Some reviews indicate a lack of communication regarding order delays, such as waiting several weeks or even months for glasses to arrive. Issues like wrong frame orders and unprofessional staff interactions have led to dissatisfaction among clients. However, there are also positive notes about helpful staff who handled specific situations well, providing a glimpse of the potential for excellent service if the right team is present during your visit.

Payment Methods and Amenities

ASDA Opticians accepts various payment methods, including credit cards, offering flexibility for customers. The store also features amenities such as in-store pick-up options, which can streamline the experience for those who prefer to collect their items rather than wait for delivery.

Quick Visits and Planning

For those looking for a quick visit, it's advisable to plan ahead and check the stock availability and processing times. Many customers have expressed disappointment over the long wait times for glasses or contact lenses, so planning accordingly can help mitigate frustration.

Final Thoughts

Overall, while ASDA Opticians in Livingston offers some commendable features, prospective customers should weigh the mixed reviews. From accessibility options to payment methods, the facility does cover various bases. However, the service inconsistencies highlighted by customers suggest that attention to detail and communication could be significantly improved to enhance the overall experience.

Kenneth Reed (27/07/2025, 07:05):
I've been visiting this optician for quite a few years now, and I must say they've been absolutely brilliant.
Joyce Perez (26/07/2025, 16:33):
I must say, I am terribly let down by the service at this optician's. I waited a good four weeks for my appointment, only to have it canceled at the eleventh hour—once more. This marks the second occasion this has occurred, indicating a significant disregard for customers' time and dedication. Booking an appointment should hold weight, particularly when individuals are organizing their day or even taking time off from work. I anticipated a higher level of reliability and professionalism. I shall certainly not be revisiting following this encounter.

Had a dreadful experience at the eye test, seemed alright at first. The selection of glasses was good, but having to wait up to 3 weeks for a pair of glasses is a bit ridiculous in this day and age. I got the glasses and as soon as I put them on, I could not see anything properly, all out of focus. They redid the eye test and made some minor tweaks, waited 2 weeks for exactly the same as the last pair. They agreed to a refund, but as I didn't have my receipt with me, they couldn't refund my card because only one person can do this and is only in on random days, so I got my money back on a gift card. Don't be fooled by their competitive prices, genuinely the worst experience of my life buying glasses.
Karen Fisher (24/07/2025, 22:58):
I recently ordered a fresh pair of spectacles as my old ones were starting to show their age. To my dismay, after waiting a staggering 5 MONTHS, they failed to materialize. Quite outrageous, I must say! I would strongly advise against patronizing this establishment for your own eyewear needs or those of your little ones.
Arthur Cook (20/07/2025, 18:01):
The staff were quite indifferent, and the service was simply dreadful. We were basically left to fend for ourselves. They promote these great prices, but it turns out they only cover very basic lenses. To top it off, my husband's glasses ended up resembling milk bottles because the price didn't even cover surfacing the lenses.
Albert Gutierrez (28/06/2025, 05:56):
AVOID!
Quite a dreadful experience from beginning to end, I must say. Endured a 30-minute wait after my scheduled appointment time. Customer service? Non-existent. The optician bombarded me with so much information during my test that it felt truly overwhelming. No assistance provided when it came to selecting frames. The staff, unprofessional and lacking in knowledge, made the entire process of ordering a special coating quite uncomfortable. Upon collection, it turned out the wrong frame had been ordered. I was asked to try it on while there were still stickers on the lenses, and to top it off, no mirror was offered to check how it looked. To add insult to injury, the prescription was adjusted in an attempt to alleviate eye discomfort...only for my eyes to feel worse afterward! Based on this experience, I opted not to proceed with another order for "my" chosen frame. The refund process dragged on as nobody seemed to know what they were doing. As it turned out, they charged me again instead of issuing a refund, prompting me to return and request a double refund. Needless to say, I shall steer clear of Asda Opticians in Livingston from now on. Never before have I felt so ill at ease or encountered such a lack of assistance or rapport.
Gregory Gutierrez (26/06/2025, 15:12):
I traveled for an hour to get new spectacles, only to be turned away because "you must have an appointment". What a total waste of time!
Samantha Hughes (24/06/2025, 02:13):
I was a bit hesitant to use this service due to the reviews, but my experience turned out to be quite good. The service was excellent and the final product was very satisfactory. I would definitely recommend it.
Grace Johnson (20/06/2025, 08:11):
Scheduled me eye examination, all good so far, or so I reckoned!!!! Picked out me spectacles, coughed up the cash. Waited for a month and then gave 'em a bell to check in, still in the works, gave 'em another ring after a week, turns out there's been a kerfuffle betwixt them and the folks making me glasses so it'll be another fortnight!!!! Went along with it, popped in to follow up. They informed me me glasses were out of stock!!!! Managed by nincompoops, hold onto your dosh and find yerself another spot like I just did!!!
Gloria Smith (15/06/2025, 22:08):
My mum had an appointment today and was chuffed with the helpful staff and top-notch service. I got my glasses there a couple of years back and received stellar service. The chap assisting today was Gavin, and Mum reckoned he was spot on.
Robert Gray (15/06/2025, 17:10):
I recently had my eyes examined for the first time at Asda Livingston, and I must say, after previously attempting Boots, Vision Express, and Specsavers, I found the optician and staff to be exceptionally thorough. The optician enlightened me about issues at the back of my eyes that I was not aware of. None of the other opticians had ever mentioned this to me before. I would definitely recommend Asda Opticians in Livingston.
Joe Jones (13/06/2025, 06:41):
Definitely should have taken a look at the reviews before giving this optician a try. The service was absolutely dreadful - unhelpful and unfriendly staff. Had to wait for months for an appointment only to be turned away. Would highly recommend steering clear of this place at all costs!
Samantha Hamilton (11/06/2025, 00:55):
The staff is very friendly and they make you feel welcome from the moment you walk in.
Virginia Jones (10/06/2025, 19:21):
I absolutely adore the service at Asda Opticians. I had visited Specsavers before and felt terribly rushed, so I switched to Asda Opticians and I much prefer the service there. They are incredibly kind and patient with my children, and have been a great help when the kids have lost their glasses, even managing to fit me in for urgent collection of glasses. The management and staff are absolutely fantastic.
