My dear old dad, who's a sprightly 85 years young and hails from Carnoustie, has found himself in a bit of a pickle. Due to his age and health, he's had to stay cooped up at home to shield himself from the outside world. And being stuck down in Portsmouth, we haven't been able to pop 'round for a visit in close to a year now. With the pandemic throwing a wrench into our plans, we've been relying on Tesco to keep him stocked up on essentials. Up until the recent snowfall, they've been pretty reliable. But alas, a delivery we were expecting since last Thursday, the 11th of February, is nowhere to be seen.
Now, to be fair to Tesco, they did send him an email letting him know the delivery was postponed until Saturday the 13th, between 4-8 pm. But lo and behold, no delivery yet again. And guess what? If he had splashed out £4.50 on their priority delivery instead of the £3 for standard delivery, he might have had his groceries by now. It's downright despicable how they're taking advantage of the elderly and less fortunate folks like my dad, especially given his circumstances.
Trying to get through to Tesco on the phone has been a fruitless endeavor, and being stuck where we are, there's not much we can do to speed things along. It's clear as day that Tesco is trying to milk extra cash out of those who can't make it to the store themselves. This behavior is utterly disgraceful and needs to be exposed to the masses!
I'm going to make use of every available platform to shine a light on this situation. Tesco ought to be called out and held accountable, and frankly, they don't deserve loyal customers like my father. It's no surprise the state of this country with heartless corporations like Tesco running amok. We won't be giving them our business anymore, that's for certain!
To any Tesco customers out there, I'd strongly suggest exploring alternative options just in case you find yourself in a similar predicament.

I have always enjoyed my visits to this supermarket, the staff are top-notch and the store is absolutely massive with a great variety of products on the shelves. No complaints here!
Joyce Carter (06/07/2025, 07:44):
A rather sizable Tesco store nestled in a convenient spot close to the town center. While their product range may not be as extensive as the larger stores on the outskirts, it certainly suffices. The checkout staff consistently offer a warm welcome, despite the challenges that surely come with their role.
Katherine Price (03/07/2025, 05:59):
Absolutely fantastic Tesco. The selection of goods is top-notch and the customer service is delightful, particularly thanks to Naomh Gibson!
Jeremy King (02/07/2025, 23:08):
I do believe that a walkway or a rail overpass from Perth Road would be a splendid idea, as not everyone possesses a vehicle or the ability to drive.
Melissa Hall (02/07/2025, 19:02):
The staff customer service level seems to be at a new low. Instead of inquiring about the issue, the staff readily escalate situations. This store used to provide excellent service, but the staff now appear worn-out and irritable. The management should take accountability for this, as something isn't quite right.
However, I must say that each and every member of the lottery/tobacco staff is delightful. They have always been warm and friendly in my encounters.
Kathleen Long (02/07/2025, 17:15):
This has been my go-to local supermarket since 1980. Back in the day, the staff was so welcoming and would greet you by name as soon as you walked in, giving you that extra special touch with their personalized service. However, I've recently noticed a significant change in their attitude.
I've never had any luck with lotteries, so I asked my 28-year-old son to go with my husband and get a lucky dip for me, hoping that his luck might just rub off on me.
Today was the first time my son, who has been shopping at this Tesco since he was a kid, was asked for identification. Not used to carrying his passport for a quick trip to the local store, he agreed to their request and left.
What was truly unfair, though, was their refusal to let my husband purchase his lottery tickets. Yes, we haven't been frequenting the store as much due to Covid-19, but my husband used to buy tickets at least once a week, sometimes even thrice a week, from his lucky terminal at the customer counter.
It's clear to me now that the staff there are distant, unhelpful, and only engage with customers on a surface level, robotically answering questions before tuning out. Perhaps, it's because English isn't our first language.

I frequently pop by this spot to snag some fresh cargo trousers. It’s a one-stop shop for all your essentials with plenty of clubcard discounts.
Randy Ross (01/07/2025, 05:03):
Just like any other Tesco, it was quite busy when we made a quick stop. We only popped in for a bathroom break on our way to Aberdeen, you know.
Ethan Myers (30/06/2025, 22:57):
It's your usual Tesco, with a decently sized car park, a spacious store inside and a cafe. The shelves are well-stocked with a variety of products. You can find some great deals with your Tesco Clubcard.
Wayne Morgan (30/06/2025, 04:35):
Fantastic service. Lovely view from the Tesco windows.
Bobby Robinson (28/06/2025, 20:54):
I had a rather unpleasant experience at the supermarket recently. While my friends and I were shopping, one of the staff members exhibited unprofessional behavior towards us. I had only purchased a 60p reusable shopping bag and was waiting for my friends at the checkout when the staff member singled me out and demanded to see my receipt for the bag I had just bought. It felt as though she was accusing me of theft without any basis. Another friend of mine bought a candle that had a security magnet in the package, causing the security machine to beep as we left. The staff member once again approached us in a confrontational manner, not understanding that the security magnet should have been removed after purchase. Overall, it was a disappointing encounter with the staff at the supermarket.
Emily Cruz (27/06/2025, 08:46):
Our visit to the supermarket was quite delightful. We were able to find everything we needed.
Victoria Roberts (26/06/2025, 12:11):
This place is just incredible, mate! It's like a massive supermarket where you can find absolutely everything you need. The best thing is their app, you can order anything your heart desires, from Indian delicacies to freshly baked bread. Make sure to try the red velvet cookies, they're top-notch!
Edward Fisher (25/06/2025, 22:59):
Great supermarket, very tidy with high-quality products and a friendly team.
Wayne Diaz (18/06/2025, 17:00):
Popped into the store the other day with my husband to do some Christmas shopping and inquired about the location of the Christmas cards for last-minute gifts from a lady with blonde hair. She seemed too busy and directed us to ask another person with a bit of attitude. The customer service we received from her was quite shocking. Her name tag read Wendy. 😡😡😡 ...
Joe Lee (17/06/2025, 13:06):
I recently visited your supermarket while on holiday and was truly impressed by the wide variety of products available. The store was immaculately clean and well-organized, and the staff were extremely helpful. In particular, a young lady named Cathrine who assisted me at the till was exceptionally kind and went above and beyond to provide me with information about the city. I will definitely be returning to your store next time I am in the area. Thank you!
Rebecca Evans (16/06/2025, 23:38):
I've never encountered any problems at this supermarket. The staff is fantastic and the shelves are consistently well-stocked.
Jean Russell (13/06/2025, 08:42):
I must say, the staff at this Tesco location were quite rude compared to the other Tesco stores I've been to. It's unlikely I'll be making a return visit anytime soon.
Peter Hill (11/06/2025, 23:25):
Just had a look at the disabled toilets in Tesco, and it's absolutely dreadful. As an industrial cleaner myself, I can confirm that what I've seen in the photos hasn't been attended to in months. This is simply not acceptable, especially when they are enforcing mask-wearing for hygiene purposes.
