Rowlands Pharmacy: Community Care on Paisley Road West

Located in the heart of Glasgow, Rowlands Pharmacy on Paisley Road West is a local hub for health services. However, the feedback from customers reveals a mix of experiences that highlight both strengths and areas for improvement.

Accessibility Features

One notable feature of Rowlands Pharmacy is its wheelchair-accessible entrance, making it easier for individuals with mobility challenges to access pharmaceutical services. Accessibility is crucial in ensuring that everyone in the community can receive the care they need.

Service Options and Payments

Rowlands offers various service options, including prescription fulfillment and advice for patients. Customers can make payments using debit cards and credit cards, as well as NFC mobile payments for added convenience. This versatility in payment options ensures that visitors can complete transactions smoothly, although experiences may vary based on customer service interactions.

Delivery Services

For those who prefer not to visit in person, Rowlands provides delivery services, which is particularly beneficial for elderly or disabled patients. However, it’s essential to plan effectively when using these services, as delays have been reported.

Customer Feedback: A Mixed Bag

Customer reviews indicate a variety of experiences at Rowlands Pharmacy. While some patrons commend the helpful staff and their knowledge, others express frustration over waiting times and perceived rudeness from employees. One customer shared a positive experience, stating they received outstanding service while attending to a surgical wound, praising the staff's supportive approach.

Conversely, another review highlighted significant issues, including confusion with prescriptions and staff's abrupt manner. Suggestions such as welcoming customers and improving communication were made to enhance overall service quality.

Quick Visits and Waiting Times

While many appreciate the quick visits available during off-peak hours, peak times can lead to longer waits. Customers should be prepared for potential delays, especially if multiple prescriptions are being processed. Patience is often required, as emphasized by one reviewer who noted the importance of accuracy in medication preparation, which can understandably take time.

Conclusion

Rowlands Pharmacy on Paisley Road West serves as an essential resource for the Glasgow community, offering important health services and accessibility features. Though customer experiences vary, continuous feedback indicates that improvements in staff interaction and communication could significantly enhance the overall satisfaction of patients. The pharmacy remains a vital part of the local healthcare landscape, emphasizing the need for ongoing evaluation and adaptation to meet community needs.

The staff seems rather unenthusiastic, but they do provide whatever you require. It does feel a bit strange to receive opened boxes though...
Zoey Ross (16/07/2025, 11:09):
This pharmacy is just lovely, I must say. The pharmacist, oh so knowledgeable and friendly, always ready with sound advice. Quite a delightful experience, indeed.
Janice Barnes (15/07/2025, 11:39):
Top-notch service, I must say.
Logan Myers (14/07/2025, 08:06):
These blokes have the most dreadful customer service, I must say. The chaps are rather rude and a shame to their trade. They gave me the wrong prescription and seem to always be twiddling their thumbs.
Carol Cruz (10/07/2025, 00:57):
The employees display a lack of kindness and assistance - as a fellow healthcare professional, demeaning every person you engage with is excessive! Arrogance and talking down to others is uncalled for. Our purpose is to offer support to those who are unwell, not to mock customers seeking guidance from the pharmacy counter! It's concerning for those who have limited knowledge, are elderly, or depend on these individuals for help.
Juan Hughes (09/07/2025, 18:01):
I had a dreadful experience at the pharmacy, old chap. The staff were terribly impolite and left me high and dry without my emergency medication. After trudging back and forth between the pharmacy and the GP multiple times, each party pointed fingers at the other and shirked their responsibilities. Quite the frustrating ordeal, I must say!
Donald Young (06/07/2025, 18:00):
My mum bought me pharmaceutical supplies.
Aaron Cook (05/07/2025, 19:35):
I popped into this pharmacy for my flu shot and the pharmacist was super helpful and friendly. I will definitely be returning for their services in the future.
Angela Barnes (20/06/2025, 19:45):
I recently accompanied my father to this pharmacy, as he struggles with severe mental health issues. The kind pharmacist assisted us with compassion and understanding, making both my father and me feel at ease. This pharmacy has now become our go-to choice for all medication needs.
Daisy Reed (12/06/2025, 23:55):
Lovely little pharmacy. The staff were so helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend it.
Layla Hayes (12/06/2025, 06:03):
I've been to this pharmacy four times since moving here locally, and every time I feel like I'm inconveniencing them.

The first visit, I dropped off my prescription for ADHD medication and was asked for ID, which I didn't have on me. They then loudly informed me that I couldn't pick up my meds without ID. I left feeling embarrassed and went back home to retrieve my driver's license.

During the second visit, they said they couldn't fill my entire prescription, which was fine, and I was told to come back the next day. When I returned to pick up my meds, they requested ID again, which I had this time. I questioned why they always required ID as I never experienced this at my previous pharmacies in Cardonald and Aberdeen. The response was that they "don't know" my face.

Today, I reluctantly went back again. I had a complicated prescription, so I expressed my uncertainty about it. I mentioned that I was transitioning from a slow-release, long-lasting medication to a quick-release, short-lasting one. I asked if I could speak with a pharmacist about it, and was assured that I would.

After a wait, the pharmacist returned with the wrong medicine and informed me they had canceled the correct prescription after speaking to my GP, although they had contacted the wrong doctor (Dr. Hay, not mine). If they had consulted with me initially as I requested, they would have had the proper information to seek advice. They then had the nerve to ask for ID again after causing confusion. When I couldn't provide any, they made me scan my phone to check for my name on any online banking app. When I declined the incorrect medication, they instructed me to return to the GP for a new prescription because they had already canceled the original one.

I had to go back to the GP and get a new prescription. Dr. Hay, whom they had spoken to, provided me with a new prescription after understanding the full context. I was also advised to go to a different pharmacy.

Rowlands, please stop being so brusque and rude to customers. Not everyone is comfortable interacting with staff who present a negative attitude. A little friendliness at the front desk would go a long way.

You should seriously address the low ratings you have on here and make an effort to improve. Let me outline what needs to change:

1 - Greet customers when they approach the desk. Don't have someone there who clearly dislikes their job.

2 - Before taking their prescription, ensure to ask if the customer has any additional needs.

3 - If there is any confusion, talk to the customer before contacting their GP with incomplete information.

4 - Refrain from shouting out personal information in a crowded pharmacy.
Robert Ward (10/06/2025, 20:44):
Great service! 👍 I was very impressed with the quality of the products and the speed of delivery. Would definitely recommend this pharmacy to others.
Alan Walker (09/06/2025, 19:39):
Five people chatting loudly in the back and ignoring me, making me wait for 49 minutes to get a Covid test. Get your act together. I won't be returning.
Jerry Phillips (06/06/2025, 10:33):
They ain't being precise in jotting down the exact dosage of the prescribed medication.
Dennis James (03/06/2025, 02:59):
This quaint local pharmacy can get quite bustling, with wait times for prescriptions sometimes stretching to over 30 minutes. However, there are also quieter moments when you may only have to wait a couple of minutes.
Samantha Rivera (02/06/2025, 20:43):
I have to say, Sharma and her colleague provided top-notch service. I had to tend to a surgical wound, and their recommendations not only helped me care for my mum but also ensured it was pain-free. The Lift plus 360 worked wonders. Kudos to you all!
Zoey Long (02/06/2025, 19:55):
The staff at this establishment lack basic courtesy and display a high level of arrogance.
