Lindsay & Gilmour Pharmacy: Concerns and Opportunities for Improvement

Lindsay & Gilmour Pharmacy, located on Milton Road in Edinburgh, has been a staple in the community for many years. However, recent feedback from customers highlights several critical issues that require attention.

Service Options: A Chaotic Experience

Many customers have expressed frustration regarding the service options available at the pharmacy. Instances of waiting outside for over an hour to collect prescriptions, particularly in inclement weather, have been noted. This situation is especially distressing for older individuals and those with disabilities, such as wheelchair users, who face significant challenges during these long waits. The lack of a proper waiting area further exacerbates the issue, making a visit to the pharmacy a hostile experience.

Accessibility: Wheelchair-Accessible Entrance

While the pharmacy boasts a wheelchair-accessible entrance, the overall accessibility experience has been marred by the disorganization inside the facility. Customers have reported chaotic scenes where prescriptions are misplaced, and long queues form without clear guidance from staff. This raises questions about how effectively the pharmacy caters to individuals with mobility issues or those needing quick access to their medications.

Payments: Modern Solutions Needed

The pharmacy currently offers limited payment options, which may include traditional credit cards. However, the integration of modern payment methods such as NFC mobile payments could streamline the checkout process significantly. Many customers have voiced concerns about the efficiency of the payment system, suggesting that adopting more contemporary solutions could greatly enhance the customer experience.

Delivery Services: A Vital Need

A consistent theme in customer reviews is the unreliable nature of prescription deliveries. Many have reported not receiving their medications on time or at all. Given the number of individuals relying on timely deliveries, it's clear that improving this delivery service is crucial. Implementing a reliable tracking system and ensuring consistent communication with customers can help mitigate these issues.

The Call for Change

Feedback indicates that the pharmacy's standard of service has declined under new management, leading to a demand for immediate change. Customers are increasingly anxious about their experiences, with reports of missing prescriptions and general disorganization contributing to a sense of dissatisfaction. It is essential for the management at Lindsay & Gilmour Pharmacy to reassess their operational strategies and prioritize customer service.

Conclusion

While Lindsay & Gilmour Pharmacy has a long-standing presence in the Edinburgh community, the recent customer experiences point to several areas requiring urgent attention. Improving accessibility, enhancing service options, adopting modern payments, and ensuring reliable delivery processes are critical steps towards restoring customer confidence. Community input should be actively sought and implemented to ensure the pharmacy meets the needs of all its patrons.

Fantastic service provided by this pharmacy! I was pleasantly surprised by the level of professionalism and efficiency. Will definitely be returning for all my pharmaceutical needs. Highly recommend!
Rachel Hamilton (05/07/2025, 07:13):
We've been having issues with this pharmacy for months now, as they haven't been processing our repeat prescription orders with the Doctor's Surgery.

We've had to resort to getting emergency prescriptions for medications we've run out of, even though we called to order repeats two weeks in advance.

It's been a nightmare trying to reach them by phone, no exaggeration, it can take hours!

They always blame the Doctor's Surgery for the delays.

I'm honestly puzzled by the positive reviews they have... perhaps they're all from the past when it was still a good pharmacy.
Dorothy Sanchez (28/06/2025, 19:35):
This pharmacy delivers top-notch service every single time! 🔥
Karen Ramirez (26/06/2025, 11:51):
Professional, experienced folks running a bustling pharmacy. Tested out 3 other pharmacies in the area before finally sticking with this one.
Katherine Hill (26/06/2025, 04:45):
I've been a patron of this Pharmacy for a decade now. Ever since new management took the helm, the level of service has taken a nosedive. As a customer, you often find yourself waiting outside in all kinds of weather for up to 30 minutes just to be served. This is especially troubling for elderly individuals who have to endure the wait outside. There are frequent altercations among substance users and aggressive individuals exchanging prescriptions right outside the premises.

Recently, I was perplexed to receive only half of my heart medication prescription without any explanation for the missing portion. The service counter seems to be in a state of disarray.

Now, I feel anxious and uneasy every time I need to collect my prescription. The atmosphere both inside and outside the pharmacy is hostile.

After conversing with fellow customers in line, it's evident that they share my apprehensions about the quality of service at this establishment.

This morning, I arrived at 9:20 am to find the Pharmacy closed, despite its supposed operating hours from 9 am to 1 pm on Saturdays. There were several disruptive substance users and around 11 customers already waiting outside.

Knowing from past experiences that I would likely have to wait at least 30 minutes, I opted not to join the queue. This recurring situation is completely unacceptable and requires urgent intervention!
Jennifer Hill (19/06/2025, 05:04):
There seems to be a lack of consistency in the level of service provided.
Timothy Myers (18/06/2025, 20:02):
Today I found myself standing outside in the cold and rain for over an hour just to collect a prescription. There were elderly individuals, one in a wheelchair, and young children under 5 also waiting. The poor woman in the wheelchair was shivering, and yet there was no assistance or acknowledgement of the discomfort we were experiencing. The queue was so long that people started cutting in line, leading to altercations among customers. The staff seemed overwhelmed without any clear leadership or system in place. I have been trying to contact them for days, but my calls go unanswered or they claim the phone is not charged.

I spoke to several elderly individuals who rely on prescription deliveries, but their medications never arrived, forcing them to endure long waits in line. These recurring issues have pushed me to find a new pharmacy. This experience does not even warrant a single star rating.
Shirley Allen (14/06/2025, 23:14):
The staff at this pharmacy are truly outstanding - highly skilled, friendly, and efficient professionals.
Larry Baker (14/06/2025, 21:47):
Always busy, this pharmacy definitely needs to expand its premises! Despite their best efforts, they are constantly bustling with customers. It seems like they were much more efficient in the past, but with staff turnover and a lack of leadership, things have certainly taken a hit. It's a pity to see.
Linda Richardson (11/06/2025, 13:45):
The staff was incredibly helpful and provided excellent assistance.
Ethan Moore (11/06/2025, 01:40):
The service is absolutely dreadful, I must say. They truly need to be reported.
Louis Cruz (05/06/2025, 21:05):
On the last two occasions I've requested my repeat prescription, one item has been missing – my blood pressure tablets. Both times, they point the finger at the doctors and advise me to call them. After contacting the doctors, they shift the blame back to the chemist. Meanwhile, I'm left without my medication; the last time, I had to wait an entire week. This pharmacy used to be efficiently managed, but over the past year or so, it has deteriorated significantly and is poorly run.
Benjamin Morgan (04/06/2025, 12:29):
You folks are absolutely fantastic. So kind and helpful...best pharmacy in Edinburgh, I must say. I highly recommend.
Thumbs up...I truly appreciate your service👍👌...
Emily Turner (02/06/2025, 13:07):
I am aware that they are quite busy. The phone just keeps on ringing without any answer. Therefore, it is necessary to visit them in person. I ended up having to wait outside their premises.
David Perry (29/05/2025, 21:29):
If it were achievable to grant this pharmacy a rating of zero, I certainly would.
I would propose that there are more well-stocked pharmacies in Gaza. Why do the shelves always appear bare? Do the staff lack motivation to restock?
It's constantly complete pandemonium, they never seem to locate your prescription despite an abundance of employees behind the counter.
It nearly consumes an hour to either drop off or collect a prescription.
This chemist is unsuitable for its intended use, the local community is weary of it.
Jennifer Reyes (27/05/2025, 06:25):
The staff at this pharmacy is truly helpful and goes above and beyond to provide excellent service. Their dedication to customer satisfaction is evident in every interaction.
Eric Price (24/05/2025, 11:12):
I must say, this pharmacy is quite the disaster. The lack of organization is glaringly obvious, making it near impossible to reach them by phone. Endless queues seem to be the norm, with waits as long as 20 minutes resulting in no service at all. To top it off, the place is a mess and I often find they don't even have the items I came for. It's a pity to admit, but this establishment is truly chaotic.
Sophia Barnes (22/05/2025, 12:11):

I just wanted to give a huge shoutout to the lovely lady pharmacist who assisted me earlier today. Her knowledge and kindness were truly appreciated!
Riley Allen (20/05/2025, 13:56):
This pharmacy used to be quite good, but it has been rather dreadful in recent months. It's a wee shop and can get busy, but that's no reason to overlook customers as they enter. A simple acknowledgment of their presence would go a long way. I rely on the L&G app for my prescriptions and often find myself having to follow up on items when the app malfunctions.
Furthermore, requesting customers to confirm their address out loud in front of others is not ideal, nor is announcing the contents of a prescription to the entire pharmacy. Basic courtesy (and respect for personal information) doesn't cost a thing.
