Unlike Tesco, whose barcode reader seems to have a frustrating delay causing each item to take about five seconds to register, resulting in long queues. In contrast, ASDA's efficient system ensures a seamless checkout experience. The only downside is ASDA's peculiar decision to halt the sale of tobacco products after 10 p.m., despite licensing laws not imposing such restrictions based on time but rather on age verification. This restriction forces customers to resort to significantly more expensive 24-hour garages for their tobacco needs post-10 p.m. ASDA, please rectify this issue promptly.

I ordered a Pokemon Birthday cake for pick-up and it was replaced with an Emoji cake instead, even though there were 4 Pokemon cakes available in the store! Absolutely ridiculous, the staff must be too lazy to even look properly and get the order right. 👎...

The personnel in this establishment are rather impolite and could benefit from some customer service instruction. The policy of restricting access to bags is now simply absurd. It's frustrating to have to plead for a bag because customers are no longer allowed to grab one themselves like in other stores, and it's even worse when you have to try to get the attention of a staff member who would rather chat with coworkers. During a recent visit with my mother, we brought our own bags as they were not being monitored. A male team member proceeded to scold us as if we were misbehaving schoolchildren. A colleague once mentioned to me that this policy is supposedly to prevent theft, but what a flimsy excuse. I could continue, but please, for the sake of all that is good, provide your staff with proper training in customer service.

I purchased a couple of lovely flower bunches and they are still looking absolutely fabulous after a week and a half. I highly suggest checking them out, definitely worth it! I will definitely return for more.

Recently, I made a trip to the petrol station to use their jet wash, only to be met with a frustrating discovery. The brush and jet were covered in black oil-based paint, which ended up splattering all over my car and even ruining my clothes. Despite realizing this early on, the paint proved stubborn and regular soap and water couldn't remove it, leading me to seek professional assistance for its removal.

I decided to inform the store about the mishap, only to be directed to fill out a form on their website for customer service. After completing the form, I was then instructed to visit the store's desk to address the issue. It was disheartening to be passed around when a straightforward solution could have sufficed.

Upon explaining that I had already followed the online process, I was asked for a receipt from the jet wash – an unusual request for such a service. Several emails later, I was offered a mere £5 e-gift card as compensation. In today's world, what good is a £5 voucher?

The whole experience left me questioning the effectiveness of their customer service. If issues cannot be resolved promptly at the petrol station, where can they be? My advice: save yourself the hassle and opt for washing your car at home.

Great store. I visit frequently. However, there seems to be a lot of chitchat among the checkout staff, reminiscent of the number 19 bus at times. It would be appreciated if they kept their conversations more private. Additionally, the restroom facilities are consistently unclean. Despite these drawbacks, I would still rate the store a 4 out of 5 for its overall shopping experience.

***WARNING TO CUSTOMERS: SELLING 11-MONTHS-EXPIRED CHICKEN DATED 07/2020***

I would give this a zero-star rating if I could. On Monday, May 31st, I went shopping at the Asda Halbeath store. Among other items, I purchased two packs of Birdseye Hot and Spicy Chicken (frozen, from the freezer).

On Wednesday, June 2nd, when I went to cook the Birdseye spicy chicken for my dinner, I realized that the expiration date was 07/2020. I immediately contacted the Asda complaints department and sent them pictures of the product. Their response was a generic one, stating that they had reminded their staff about the importance of rotation and restocking, and they offered a £10 goodwill voucher.

During our conversations, they did not mention investigating the issue or removing the expired chicken from the freezers for the safety of other customers, which I find very concerning. I expressed that I felt I deserved more than a generic response and asked for a complaint reference so I could escalate the matter further, but I received no such thing.

It seems like they do not prioritize their customers' well-being or food safety. I have reported Asda to environmental health and trading standards. Additionally, I plan to report this to the press and share it across social media platforms.

Wouldn't advise popping by this Asda after 10pm. Stopped in for a quick item after work, huge mistake. Encountered a group of four lads, around 19-20 years old, tearing through the store as if it were an arcade. They were causing a commotion in the bedding section, shouting and being generally disruptive. The staff appeared completely worn out, I wouldn't have dared to approach them myself. Even the security guard was sharing laughs and jokes with them, saying "see you later guys." Left me speechless, the staff shouldn't have to endure such behavior. There were a few other customers grabbing their bits of shopping, but you could tell they were uneasy.

Absolutely dreadful experience at this Asda, I must say. The customer service from the staff was shocking, you could see it in their faces. Completely uncalled for. I ended up putting all my shopping back and walking out because of a staff member who clearly missed the memo on customer service training and came off as quite unpleasant. Instead, I headed to Tesco Duloch where the difference in service was like night and day.
*Quick side note, when I was sharing the story with my husband, he immediately knew who I was referring to🤔*
For a store of that size, the lack of small trolleys is unacceptable. A complete mess of a shop, I'd much rather go the extra distance to another store than ever visit this one again.
