Understanding Tesco Pharmacy in Andover: A Patient's Perspective

When it comes to finding a reliable pharmacy, Tesco Pharmacy located in Andover SP10 1UZ, United Kingdom, claims to offer essential services for individuals seeking medication and health advice. However, recent customer experiences paint a mixed picture.

Long Queues and Prescription Delays

Many patrons have expressed frustration with the lengthy queues they encounter. Reports indicate that customers often wait over an hour, sometimes due to unexpected lunch breaks that leave them feeling neglected. One individual shared their experience of waiting for a prescription, only to find out that it wasn't being prepared as promised. Such delays can be detrimental, especially during emergencies when time is of the essence.

Prescription Confusion and Medication Mismanagement

A significant concern raised by customers involves issues surrounding prescriptions. One user recounted how they were directed to call 111 for a referral, only to be told later that it was unnecessary. This back-and-forth caused unnecessary confusion and wasted time. Another customer experienced a similar issue when their prescription was sent to the pharmacy but remained unprepared for hours, leading to additional waiting time amidst a queue of people.

In-Store Pick-Up and On-Site Services

Despite the challenges, Tesco Pharmacy offers in-store pick-up options for convenience. However, the efficiency of these services has been questioned. Patrons have reported waiting between 15 to 20 minutes just to collect a simple medication while witnessing staff engaged in conversation instead of attending to customers. This raises concerns about the effectiveness of their on-site services.

Accessibility Matters

The pharmacy does feature a wheelchair-accessible car park, which is crucial for patients with mobility issues seeking essential medications. Accessibility plays a vital role in ensuring that everyone can receive the healthcare they need.

Customer Experience: The Need for Improvement

Many customers have noted the lack of customer service skills among staff, describing interactions as cold and unwelcoming. As one reviewer mentioned, there were no smiles or warmth upon entering the pharmacy, making a challenging situation even more difficult. The expectation of receiving help quickly and efficiently seems to be unmet, leading to a widespread call for improvements.

Conclusion: A Need for Change

While Tesco Pharmacy in Andover provides necessary medicines and services, the ongoing issues with long wait times, prescription management, and customer service cannot be overlooked. For those requiring quick visits, a better system needs to be established to ensure that every patient feels supported and valued. Until changes are implemented, many may find themselves seeking alternatives for their healthcare needs.

For further assistance or inquiries, customers can always reach out via phone for updates on prescriptions, though experiences suggest waiting may still be a factor.

Christina Wilson (25/06/2025, 10:30):
I went te the, um, pharmacy to ask for a medication without a prescription (for asthmatics), and they told me I had te call 111 to be referred and that they could provide me with inhalers. I did exactly that and then they changed their mind and told me no, asking if it was a repeat prescription. I said no because it wasn't, and they told me I now had to call 111 and wait for a doctor to send me a prescription. They decided not to apologize for the confusion or wasting my time and started arguing with me, saying they were "following the process". It's strange that the process is to call 111 twice and ask for two different things, but oh well...

They sent the prescription to the pharmacy around 11 in the morning, but I couldn't come back until 6 in the evening because I was busy. Seven hours later, the prescription still wasn't ready, and right now I'm waiting for 15 to 20 minutes for them to put a box in a bag for me while I watch the long queue of staff chatting.
